Obama, and what’s the deal with same-sex marriage bans?

I’m over the rainbow as far as the American elections went. Seriously, there are no more excuses for anyone to underestimate a person of colour who is qualified for a job. And for those of us who are of colour, no more excuses for slacking off. People will listen when we speak, and follow when we lead. Stop selling yourself short! No, sisters and brothers, we need to rise to the call and do right by Obama and take our place beside him, because and apparently WE CAN.

So anyhow, what’s the deal with same-sex marriage bans? They say that the same people who arrived in droves to put this qualified, intelligent, well-educated fellow in the White House were also responsible for gay marriage bans in California, Florida, and a couple other places. Yeah, OK…

I don’t get it. Is it a bad thing? No one has been hurt, and if you ask me, the entire institution could use a pick-me-up. I figure letting women and women and men and men marry is going to teach us a lot about equality in relationships, building families, and commitment. And even if you still think it’s not totally on the up-and-up, there are much worse things. Like people who waste food. Or are intentionally unkind. Or pollute.

Where are the propositions to ban unthrifty home economics? Ban those who ARE assholes, not those who make love to them, I say.
